I want it to sit across, so subs fire off rear gate. My problem is there is a little over 37" width and I need 40". My neighbor has been doing fab work for like 15 years and he told me he can cut a little out of each side and reweld new plates so there is room for the box to sit. He is a very good welder, so I have no doubts in him doing it. I just want to know if there is any downsides to doing this. Like will this hurt the vehicles stabilty in anyway. Clearance wise for tires against suspsension is no problem only a tiny bit is going to be tooken out on both sides. I really want this box faced this way so I'm hoping it can work.
