Let me address this underrating stuff for a minute. In many cases, its simply a marketing tool. In other cases, its a safety decision to avoid blown products giving the company a bad reputation. And, some companies go completely the opposite direction and 'overrate' their products to make them appear better than they actually are (usually the lowest end brands). Say a company built a 1000 watt amp. It would produce 1000rms @ a given impedance. Now say they advertise the amplifier as a 1200 watt amp. The first time someone on the internet bench tests one and realizes it produces less than advertised power, its instantly deemed poor quality. Or, imagine they advertise that same amplifier as an 800 watt amp. Someone bench tests it and is pleased to find it is underrated (1000w instead of the advertised 800watts). Now its deemed a high quality product. In reality, both amps are the same amp, and quality has been determined based only on the decisions made by the company's marketing department as to what to 'rate' the amplifier as. How many of you guys, of us guys, have fallen into that trap before? Most of us? Almost all of us? All of us? Too many of us. Dont let power ratings and marketing gimmicks determine quality in your eyes.
