[QUOTE="SQmatters, post: 8350715, member: 664625"] Hi people I called woofersetc today to order an IDMAX12 for a setup I'm going to begin. I have three questions- When I called woofersetc, they told me they have both the IDMAX V3 and V4 version of the sub. My number one goal is to produce accurate subsonic frequencies over the subsonic range as true as possible. I have room for only a single 12" sub. Money is not really a concern. Box will be custom built by pro, most likely ported, but not 100% on that yet. I have the pioneer deh-80PRS and CDT pro comps w/ silk dome tweeters for front stage with an appropriately powerful soundstream amp for said comps. My questions- 1. I don't know the difference between the third and fourth version of this sub. Does anyone here have the experience to comment? Both are the same price apparently from woofersetc btw 2. My second question is regarding the resistance. All other things being equal, is it better to give a sub 1000w at 1 ohm or 1000w at 2 ohms? I have two quality amps available that each do 1200w rms, one at 1 ohm, the other at 2 ohms. I would've assumed that running at 2 ohms will give a cleaner signal but I'm also afraid that it will tax the vehicle's stock alternator more heavily. I don't know much about 12v electronics which is why I'm here to defer to your superior knowledge. What are your thoughts? 3. Again, the goal is quality reproduction 99% of the time (The amp's gain will be set modestly, and I'm looking for tight, crisp, fast performance, I want to avoid sloppy, resonating boomy subwoofer bass at all costs). I will have the occasional *turn-up* session where I make the sub do some real work (and expect it to be loud for a few minutes) which is why I'm considering the IDMAX instead of the Q. That being said, Ported or sealed and for which version of the IDMAX12 (V3 or V4)? Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
