[QUOTE="brian84corvette, post: 7136548, member: 586635"] I have feelings that go both ways. because im 30 years old - when I see a us vxl 200 or 400 I get a boner why ? because of what it represents. when I was 16 this was the mack daddy of amps - and to have one in your viechle - you practicly had to re design the interior to fit the dam thing in but it was that serious. - my logical brain tells me that I can buy a sundown amp for cheaper - and have much more reliable amp capable of the same or more power than what the old vxl 200 would do for me - and if I did end up buying that old school powerhouse amp and I managed to smoke it up.. it would be crazy costly to repair if I could even find some one capable of doing the repair correctly. running that old school amp is riding the knife edge of what iffs and would only be done by me if I had my SHOW car finished to a point of being ready to go to the las vegas super show - then I would install the gear my heart desires - but until my car gets to that point I want to drive it and bump furiously - and I will keep my saz hooked to the subs until my car gets built up to the point of being too nice to take out of the garage exept to go win trophys at shows on the back of a trailor.... wich will probly never ever happen. that being said - when I go to my local flea markets and pawn shops - im always on the hunt for old gear. and if I can haggle it for a good deal ill buy it right up. ive got 8 or so old school amps right now and 2 pairs of old school subs that still beat nice. I love the nostalga / and cost effectivness of buying good old school gear and using it in my viechles. but also the newest car ive ever owned is my 1990 chevy 2500 - my other viechle is a 72 plymouth - and ive had a 72 pontiac and a 66 vw bug so it makes more sence for me to use "apropriate" old school gear in an older viechle. putting a 1985 amp in a 2005 lexus viechle seems rather silly to me - but im strange to begin with.
