I have some 4g wire runnin from the front of my car to the back already for my air ride setup (64 galaxie convertible)... the 2 - 450c vairs pull 40amps when both are on according to the meters..keep in mind they only run when needed, usually 2 times an hour or so for 3-4 minutes.. until i hook up the EDC lol.. so, i have the 4 gauge ALL the way to the trunk, and a dist. block that runs 8 gauge off that to each of the compressors.. overkill, but cool with me lol.. I have a MTX 2150x amp that im gonna run to my old school round solobaric 10" just to get a lil noise there.. I also have the 8g kit I had sittin around already that should be plenty for this amp (300 watts rms, but old school rating).. how much do you guys think amp wise that the MTX will draw? 2 - 30 amp fuses are in the amp... so im thinkin 30-35 amps? or am i crazy? im not a crazy bumpin music kinda guy, volume wont really go above 60% so... long story short... the 4gauge should be able to handle 80 amp or so draw from what i know, so can i just run 8g to the dist block for the amp? the reason I am asking is because I have the 8g sittin there, and eventually i wanna upgrade to some other audio stuff and ill run 0 gauge to the back for that alone then... for now, amps adding up i would think i would be fine... but i know you guys are the masters... ps - i could also run the 8g to the battery, but i wanna add another MTX amp soon (275 amp a friend has so 37.5 rms watts per channel) to run a couple front speakers, could the 8g from the battery handle the 2150x and the 275 MTX amps ok? as you can tell, im on a BUDGET.. so sorry if it makes no sense to the guys that can just afford to run 0 gauge and call it a day
