Some higher end low gain amps need that extra boost on the input. BUT, I can promise that you don't need it. And remember this, if you input is 750 mV and you will reach your maximum gain on the pre-amp before you will reach 4 or 8 volts. Beat, do you run you stuff at 0 db??? Or wide open???? I hope not.
