Hey everybody, I am completely green at all this but I hope you all might be able to help. I got $50 for Christmas and so replaced my stock radio in my '95 Saturn Sl2 with a (don't laugh) Dual XD5100. It was literally the cheapest thing I could find online. I would love to have a real stereo but for now this is it. Anyway, I got everything hooked up with friend who is usually pretty knowledgeable. We used a harness to match the car and everything hooked up very easily and obviously, but when I turned on the ignition, the only thing that happened was the power button lit up. Absolutely nothing else works. It won't accept a cd and literally nothing else comes on. So, we checked voltage at the fuse and it was 11.something. The car fuse and fuses at the deck are fine, but I get nothing. From everything I have read it sounds like maybe I need to run my own ground to the chassis. Perhaps the ground for the stock radio isn't enough? Would that make sense? Or, is there something else wrong? I would really appreciate it all if you have some time for a novice like myself. Thanks a lot.
