Job: Mechanical Engineer/Electrical Engineer/Automotive Engineer Description: I work with HO Alternators. We don't do too much in terms of "Audio" because we are generally more expensive than your standard HO Alternator. We do a lot of government work and have many government contracts. We do sell some audio Alts, but like I said, they are usually a little higher priced than some of the other ones. I design custom housings, pulleys, brackets to fit 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Alts, whatever the client is looking for in power. Also design custom underhood parts to fit more batteries or other components in limited space. Most recent project was fitting 4 yellow top optimas under the hood of a suburban. Pay: Base pay a garbage. less than 35K. But after "incentives" which is basically commission, I'm much closer to 6 figures than my base pay(got my fingers crossed to break the 6 figure barrier this year). I get paid days off, not much, no 401k match or anything like that. Top notch health, dental, and vision coverage though. I have 2 cars that I pay on. Both 2014s, a Kia Optima and a Kia Soal. Hopefully the Optima is paid off next year so I can get a Suburban too. I'm only 23 next month and have a lot of life to live. I got a offer to help with a audio garage which I'll probably take up to pursue my passion and learn about the business. I'll probably open my own garage in no time if money seems plausible. Business has started to become a passion and I want to test my smarts in the field and hope it doesn't ruin me.
