Yes the HU works without the amp connected to it. They had the factory HU connected from the amp to an adapter. The adapter was spliced into the factory harness. The reason he wanted a new HU was to be able to control the subs which he could. I called them after that when he purchased a new HU and they said the adapter is not needed now and the "plug ins" from the amp to the new HU, Kenwood MP 235 would go directly into the head unit. Evreything worked GREAT except the RF speaker. And when I looked it was just the grey/black wire that had come apart. Thats all I did is resplice,black/grey to black/grey, plugged the amp into the HU as it was before I removed it, Plugged the harness into the HU as it was when I removed it and the antenna. I just do not understand as soon as we turn on the car its like FULL BLAST Subs/ have to turn it off right away. Radio works fine without the amp plugged in. Is there anything on the amp I can check? MTX 934? I did nothing to the amp prior to rehooking up the speaker wire so I don't know how anything would change there?
