I got a used car and the stereo does not work. All speakers are there and the dealer said that it was missing the amp. Before I go into full detail of my question I will remind you that I am a total newb at this stuff and don't exactly know what all of the components are called so bear with me. I' trying to figure out exactly what I am missing and what could be used to replace it. Nothing fancy and no real performance is needed really. Just the bear minimum to get it working again. What I have is a 98 Nissan 240SX and it had a custom stero system in the trunk. All the wires are still there so I am going to offer the best description I can and see if anyone can tell me what is missing. Looking into the trunk from the back seat I have on the right hand side a small blue wire (about a 16th of an inch) with a "u" shaped connection. A large wire coverd in transparent brown coating (about a 1/2 inch) with a small black wire connected to it and a "u" shaped connection. A large red wire with a "u" shaped connection. And on the left hand side about a foot and a half away I have 4 sets of small "pigtail" wires that are purple and say stinger on them. One wire of each set has a + symbol and all wires end with a "u" shaped connection. 4 wires with 8th inch lpucgs. One black and one red both say stinger the other two are blue one with a red band and one with a blue bad. Both say acoustik. Then I have 2 medium sized (about an 8th inch) speaker wires or at least they appear to be with "u" shaped connections. Then for some reason there appears to be a telephone cable in which the other end runs under my steering wheel or at least I assume it does. So. If anyone could tell me what I was missing I would really appreciate it. Also if you can figure it out a list of affordable alternatives for replacement would be great. Again, not looking for preformance, just something that will work.
