[QUOTE="joshpoints, post: 612595, member: 546465"] I believe artest did want any piece of wallace and that's why he walked away. If you know the history of artest you would know that he is known for giving people cheap shots that could have ended their career along with getting plenty of technical fouls. Out of respect you don't pull a guy down like artest did with 40 seconds to go, especially when you have a bad reputation like artest. You have the game won, the guy beat you on offense and now you're going to pull him down possibly injure the guy so that his team doesn't score another 2 points? The refs were separating wallace and artest. I have played on a team and those players that went into the stands aren't very bright. How is that going to make the situation any better? It's not. You don't lunge out and try and start something with a crowd of fans that don't like your team anyway. They're fortunate it didn't get any worse than it did. The pistons could have pulled their starters but may not have wanted to since it was a home game and the fans would have been upset. To your last statement artest could choose between fight/flight ability, he chose to fight and escalate the situation past throwing the cup just back into the crowd but rather going into the crowd with punches. Now wallace gave artest a good shot to the chin neck area, the crowd throws a liquid on him, but artest I guess confuses the two and thinks the crowd threw the shot to his chin and neck area and decided to go give the crowd some shots.
