I am 1/3 Cherokee 1/3 Apache from my father's side and 1/3 Dutch from my mother's side. Due to my mother's Dutch influence I am light complected and am always being told "you don't look indian". I embrace my Cherokee heritage more because that's what I know the most about. I have taught the language in a Southern Cherokee tribe. I like to go to American Indian pow wows and I am a dancer. I dance both the "Gourd Dance", which is a blessing dance BUT it is also known as a Veteran's dance to honor ALL veterans, and I dance the Sothern Traditional or Southern Straight which is a story telling dance. One of my grand-daughters also dances in the Southern Cloth. She is 12 and has been dancing since she was five(5). My wife is Cherokee, Choctaw and Cajun, and believe me that is SOME combination. I guess that's it. [QUOTE="powwowron, post: 6478348, member: 616729"] Osio is Hello in the Cherokee language.
