I was about 8 or 9 when Boyz In The Hood came out in theaters and I remember when they had extra security at the theaters during its run. Apparently people would get all hot and bothered over the movie and do something dumb. I bought my last tape in 1996. It was some Bay Area rap group. Although it probably wasn't until 1998 or 1999 that I actually stopped listening to tapes completely. I was a valet about 4 years ago and I was shocked how many new cars came with tape decks. I figured by then they had all but been phased out. It was mostly the low end luxury cars that had them. They probably wanted to force you to upgrade to the "premium" sound system.
