Message: <blockquote data-quote="Phatillusion" data-source="post: 1218337" data-attributes="member: 541271"><p>You can't really blame Lidge, most closers rely on the fact that very few hitters will face them during the season.   Usually, they may pitch to less than 10 batters during a 4 game series.  But in the post season, they are used more often, and batters have a few at bats to adjust, therefore the closer is not as effective.  Just look at what the Red Sox do to Rivera.  That's a prime example, they've faced him so many times that they've adjusted to him, unless he makes another adjustment and pitches them differently they will get some good cuts in.</p></blockquote><p></p>
