Hi guys, as the title suggests, I'm new to this forum and I'm very new to car audio. My tweeters went not too long ago. i bought a pair of cheap ones ($10) off Amazon that had good reviews. I tried installing them by directly splicing the four wires together, at first without any cross over, and then with a capacitor inline with the wires. Both times, the tweeters produced a considerable hiss that wasn't bearable. At first I thought it was because I didn't install a proper crossover like everywhere I read suggested. After talking to an audio installation place, i'm guessing it's simply because the tweeters were $10. Thoughts? I think I need to get more expensive ones. I also decided that I want to upgrade my components too. The place said I wouldn't be able to find a good pair of tweeters for less than $100 and a pair of components for less than $200. I don't think that's true.. And on top of that, they'd charge me an arm and a leg to install them. So, with that being said, what do you guys think I should be able to find a good pair of tweeters and components for? I am not an audiophile. I would just like a noticeable upgrade, from my old, stock Bose system in my G35. I feel like I could find solid tweeters for $50 and components for $100. Also, when looking for tweeters and components, that I may install myself, would it make my life a lot easier finding quality ones that come together as a package, with a crossover?
