Orion was winning various soundoffs back in the freggin 80s!! People who have absolutely zero interest in aftermarket mobile A/V gear as a hobby have at least heard of Orion and I'm not talking about the constellation of the same name... Is your opinion that if Best Buy doesn't sell it that is must be off the radar of the general buying public? You should get out more..... Wait a minute! If you're running JL subs - how in the world did you ever hear about those??! Best Buy doesn't carry JLa gear... But to offer a correction - generally when we see a term such as "off-brand" it immediately brings to mind such stellar gear as Pyramid, Pyle, Boss, etc etc etc. You know - the kinds of equipment you're likely to see in pawn shops and those once-in-awhile sales at your local fairgrounds. Non-mainstream, as spelled incorrectly in your thread title, is a much more accurate description of what you're meaning excepting the inclusion of Memphis and Orion in the list of what you're talking about. Orion couldn't be any more mainstream regardless of whether or not you're personally familiar with their products. While true they aren't what they once were before being absorbed by DEI (their current parent company) they still enjoy a monstrous aftermarket enthusiast following. Memphis is hugely popular as well and makes some highly-regarded gear in their own right.
