Forte in the second paid off in spades. Williams in the first, not so much. Greg Olsen, while a decent player, was a wasted 1st round pick as well. Jerry Angelo has neglected our offensive line for FAR too long and in the last couple of seasons it has taken it's toll. The man's terrible draft strategy can be explained in two words. Dan LeFevour. LeFevour was drafted in the 6th round, so it could be argued that we didn't miss out on much by picking him. That's a fine argument on the surface, but when you look at the situation a little deeper you realize it was another Angelo failure. LeFevour was a nice "project" pick. I was actually happy about getting him. But the thing is, we didn't need a project QB in Chicago. We JUST GOT Jay Cutler and he's supposed to be our guy for the next decade or so, and Hanie is a decent project himself. What did Angelo hope to accomplish with the LeFevour pick? In the end, it was a wasted 6th round pick that could've been used on a project player for our terrible offensive line. LeFevour was cut, prematurely I might add, and didn't even pass waivers. I'm sure the coaching staff had hopes of keeping him on our practice squad, but Cincy pounced on him. LeFevour could possibly be a quality starting QB in the NFL after a few years of coaching. How stupid will Angelo look when/if Dan LeFevour successfully transitions into a solid QB? Instead of being the guy known for a great late round pick, he'll be looked at as the guy who pissed away another decent QB that he had almost nothing invested in.
