Good morning, I'd like to add a sub amp to my son's 1999 eclipse. I've never installed a amp before and need some help from the experts.. The shop that installed the speaker amp is out of business sad to say. This is what I know: 1pr. jbl 6x9 coax in the back and 6.5 coax in the front. 1 Memphis 12" sub. 200 watt max. I'm assuming it's 4ohm 1 powerbass 4 channel 800 watt amp. somehow he was able to run everything off this amp. The panasonic hu died and picked up a pioneer DEH-P7000BT off e-bay which I want to install at the same time I install the sub amp. stock battery and alt. I guess the first question is what kind of sub amp should I get class AB class D? I've seen some 250watt amps on the classifieds here but have no idea what to look for. I'd consider new also if I keep it under 125-150.00. Im not looking to add another sub. I've read some posts in this forum and know I need a amp kit. Some one posted this site. which kit would I need to buy? Im not sure what gauge wire I need and is it better to buy a kit or just buy things seperate? http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?Category=Amp%20Installation%20Kits# I also read I might need a fuse distribution block. which one would you guy's recommend? http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?Category=Distribution%20/%20Fuse%20Blocks Would the stock battery and alt handle adding a sub amp on first of all? Do I need new battery terminals? It's ok to run a wire from the remote wire of the first amp to the new one seeing that one is already hooked into the ignition? Im kind of lost on the fuse thing. Do I cut the power wire from the battery and fuse it if so is it better to fuse it as close to the battery terminal or does it not matter. What type of fuse? Do you ground the amp as close to the amp as possible and is it ok to use the same ground point as the amp thats already installed? I know I need a dmm never used one before but I'll research out how to use the darn thing. any other help or recommendations would be appreciated also. I know the post is long with a lot of questions but I like to know what I'm getting into and have all the information before I start a project. The worse thing is saying **** I need to run to get a part come back and find I need to run out again to get another part lol. Thanks in advance and happy turkey day.
