While I'd choose Samsung for the superior brand, Sharp is only a notch below it. I don't like how the Samsung only has two HDMI inputs, and how it isn't a Smart TV with internet capabilities. And looking at Sears website for LED selection, those are the only two good options really. Personally I'd try to find a good deal on this Vizio: http://store.vizio.com/led-lcd-hdtvs/m550vse.html?___SID=U Here it is at Wal-Mart for $900: Vizio 55" Class LED 1080p 120Hz refresh rate HDTV, M550VSE: TV & Video : Walmart.com Which, after sales-tax is more than it is at the Vizio store. Maybe the free shipping would be worth it though. Personally I wouldn't settle for paying $850 and getting a TV as featureless as the Samsung. But I also don't think I'd be willing to buy Sharp. I'd either up my budget a little, or wait for a good deal on the Vizio. No.... A few years ago Plasma held the edge over LCD. Strongly at that. Plasma over LCD all day. But now with LED technology in the LCD displays, a quality LED will best a plasma. It's very silly that you can even pretend to say LED is junk. It's the new technology, they've perfected it at this point. It's much thinner. It's much lighter. It's much more efficient. And it matches picture quality.
