Hello all! For a long time now i've been wanting to put a system in my 06 Jetta TDI. I've spent the past several days reading forums and figure it's time I post. To start off with, I listen primarily to metal and rock. I'm all about SQ! What makes my situation a bit more unique is that I might have access to a Best Buy discount (I know they sell mostly junk, but if i can pick up an amp or something there to save money for other parts that'd be great). So, I humbly ask for your collective wisdom to help me put together a system priced around $1000. It will include the following: Subs: Enclosed box, space is not an issue. I don't need bass that will rattle buildings as I drive by, just tight, clear, punchy bass. Open to suggestions on 2x10, 1x12, 2x12 etc. I've read great things about Image Dynamics (IDMAX = teh ***) and JL Audio(w6v2). Could I buy either of these at ~=$350 and still have enough for everything? Components for front: Friend suggested Infinity Kappa's, which would be nice since i could get them at best buy. But again, open to suggestions. I've read alot more about subs then I have speakers. Speakers for back: Kappa's again...(or stay with stock to spend more elsewhere?) 4 channel amp for speakers: Match it up with speakers amp for sub/s: Match it up with subs I'll be getting down and dirty and doing the research necessary to install everything myself, so installation is not a part of the $1000. Also, I'm not buying a deck. I'm happy with the stock 6 cd changer. It's not as pretty, but I'll have less chance of getting broken into. Plus it's more money towards nicer parts. I'd also be willing to look for used equipment. Thanks for your time.
