JL Audio has instructions for setting gains that anyone can follow. If the bass knob adjusts the level of the amp and not the bass boost, set the gain with the knob at maximum and use it to turn the bass down. You either haven't been properly instructed in how to use your system or it's not been tuned right and it's your buddy's fault AND your fault.</p></blockquote><p></p>
