Hi all, this first post on these forums and I am hoping to get some advice on this problem I am having. I will first start off by sharing the fact that I know next to nothing about car audio, so I did not personally install this system, I had a local shop do it for me almost exactly 2 weeks ago. I have a Phoenix Gold R500.1 Amp installed with a Phoenix Gold R3 12 inch sub. I just finished checking my power and ground connections and they seem pretty solid. As the title says, my sub woofer is cutting out.It cuts out for maybe 30 seconds to a few minutes. This just started today on my commute home from work. I stopped by the shop where I had the system installed and the shop owner sat in the car with me and had me set the sub level control and stereo volume at what I normally listen to music with. I generally set the sub to about 60% and volume to 45. He told me I should turn the volume to no more than 37 and that should fix the problem. This just occurred today, so I haven't really tested his theory out, but he also told me that if I got a better head unit (mine is just a stock stereo) this would fix my problem and I could crank the volume up higher. Is this guy just trying to get me to spend more money? Could this just be some kind of overheating issue? It was 96° today, and I have about an hour commute. Any help trying to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
