Haha, exactly. It only took us how many years to hit the original goal? But seriously, Noah's right - the new Mag goes right back to the design philosophy of the original "Magnum" (I hope Mitek isn't looking when I typed that) - small sealed enclosure, 1000 watt power handling, and superb SQ. Throughout the years the Mag evolved into a SQL driver for sure. By our last generation you could throw an SAZ-1500D on a single 12 or 15 without any problems and for competitions you could hammer on them with 2000+ watts on burps. Basically I went back to the drawing borad, picked up a very linear and extremely T/S preserving motor technology, shrunk the mounting depth by over an inch, and bumped SQ up to where it's never even thought of approaching before. As I disucssed on here with Audioholic a long time ago, I'm not bending the charts/limitations of woofer design...I just chose to toss power handling down quite a bit. Going from a true 1500 watts to 900-1000 watts is a significant bump downward. Also designing the driver to work in a small sealed alignment first and foremost allowed for the SQ piece of the pie chart to increase quite a bit. The previous Mag's would work in anything because they were so damned hard to blow up. Anyway, the Mag now offers a smaller sealed enclosure size, 1000 watt power handling, small mounting depth, and about half the weight of other subwoofers. And you know you've done something right when you receive a PM from Jim that says "holy bejeezus. You've outdone yourself"
