Okay, dumb question #101: I just got through replacing my stock speakers with a set of four 6.5" Pyramid 6577 3-ways (rated at 400w), and they clip and distort (i.e. cut out, buzzing sound) at volume levels that the stock speakers handled just fine. What is causing this problem? Do I need an equalizer/amp or other piece of equipment? Also, FYI, I'm running a Kenwood MP225 head unit (50w x 4) with no amp or equalizer right now. From reading other posts in this forum, I gather that Pyramid is not exactly considered to be top quality stuff, but I would think that they'd be able to at least handle what I was throwing at the stock speakers. The Pyramids might be crap, but if at all possible, I'd like to make my system work with them for now. If I need to pull them (or if it's going to be cost prohibitive to make it work), I'll pull them, and just chalk it up to experience. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated......... Thanks! --Steve K. stevenk2@juno.com
