Hey, just thought I would say hello.
I have been into the car audio craze since I was 16 and it never left me even at 45 I still love this stuff. I started out with the radio shack stuff and then proceeded into bigger and well obviously better equipment.
A few years back I sold my 90 GMC single cab truck and well the only way the dude would buy it was with the complete system in it. It had an alpine head unit, MTX 3 way crossover, a set of Phoenix Gold front components in custom built kick panels that I made, with a MTX amp running the components and 2 Sound Stream exact 10 subs with a MTX 2300 (I think) amp running the subs. It has been a long time since I had that, please excuse me for not knowing all the model #'s on the stuff. That was in the mid/late 90's.
. Recently I decided my lowered dually needed a little more than it had but I did not want to crazy with size and $$$ So I pulled the trigger over the winter and made a set off kick panels for 6.5 components. Hmm, Sounded ok off the head unit (Kenwood X979) power but not good enough. So I wanted small amps, ended up with 2 PPI Phantom amps 900.4 and a 1000.1. The 900.4 runs a set of Polk MM6501 in the kicks and a set of Polk MM 651 in the doors. The 1000.1 runs an old alpine SWS 1042D I had collecting dust (put in a custom built enclosure under the rear seat that I also built.. It may not be the best stuff around but I can say this, for the money I have in it. It is probably all I need in a 1993 GMC dually extended cab truck. I would like too upgrade to a 12" sub when money allows it. Not sure what to use for a sub yet.
