Neoprene SD material - Is it good?

As far as that specific brand. As far as I know you're the first to mention it on this forum. I doubt anyone can tell you. It seems way too expensive for my tastes, but I guess if you can afford a Corvette, you can afford $250 for fancy ass pre-cut deadener. =p

If it's worth the extra effort, you could check out http://www.xionind.com and look into their spray on deadeners. I talked to the owner, apart from the usual stuff you say to sell a product, he absentmindedly told me that 90% of their sales come from commercial and military contracts. If it's used by the US military, you know it works. It's also very nicely priced.

I like the fact that it only weighs 5 lbs. This is a added benefit for me since I bring my car to the track. Gotta start counting pounds, especially since I will be putting in the system. As far as the price, I should be able to get it for $195.00 shipped in a GP. That is A LOT less than it would cost to do my car in second skin or dynamat. The C5 needs around 144 square feet to do all of the car. That comes out to $1.35/square foot and this stuff is supposed to be comparable to Dynamat. I just don't know if this neoprene technology is good for stereos. It definitely deadens sound per other people.

Dynamat is just an overpriced standard. Like Audiobahn. There are much less expensive alternatives that will easily outperform. The product I recommended is also pretty light. I honestly wouldn't trust something as light as 5lbs for 144 sq feet. That's roughly 1/2 oz per square foot. Resin isn't even that light. That stuff has got to be uber thin.

It is 3/16" thick. Here are some more specs:

"PRE-CUT Insulation kits for your C5 Coupe, Convertible, or Z06. Kit reduces interior sound levels by an average of 10-11db at 60mph per our testing. Also virtually eliminates heat, as it rejects 97% of radiatiant heat per the manufacturer. This material was used factory in the Plymoth Prowlers and Dodge Vipers (not sure about the SRT). Dynamat Extreme tests have shown average of 12-14db but eliminate no heat and the uncut material will cost you $400-500 alone.

Includes the full kit from up front under the dash, all the way to the back wall of the trunk. "

Well, try it. Be sure to give a review on this forum of it for others! I can't offer any advice without making assumptions on stuff I don't kow.

The spray on stuff from Xion Industries that Raven mentioned is really good stuff. I sprayed in 3 gallons of Dead Zone for about 75 bucks and it worked awesome. They also sent me a sample of their new mat. Its almost identical to dynamat extreme but its half the price only like 3.50/ sf ft. Good stuff and good price.
