Here's a possible fix I read online, can't confirm or deny if it will work or not. " This is happening only at Dell laptop, but we found a fix that worked in most of the cases. Before starting the laptop remove the CMOS battery for 5 min for BIOS reset. You will need a dell compatible AC-DC charger and a dell compatible battery charged above 10%. Start the laptop and press F2 key. In setup fix the clock. Restart saving the changes. When the new BIOS message appear press F1 key to continue. When in windows go on the DELL website, search for your model drivers, according to your model and download the BIOS upgrade. Run DELL BIOS upgrade, and the computer will restart and upgrade the BIOS. When started again, your laptop will recognize the battery and AC-DC adapter. " Seems like they're just resetting the bios so they can reupgrade it again indicating there's a bios fault, seems unlikely it will fix issue but worth a shot. Here's a bandaid fix I read online, if your model supports docking stations- "he best workaround short of replacing the motherboard is to purchase a Dell docking station and a 90w Dell power supply (if you dont already have one; a 65w power pack will not work with the docking station). You can find them on ebay for pretty cheap, 20.00 for the dock and 30.00 for the 90w power pack. The docking station works well to charge the laptop."
