The constant input (yellow wire on the Sony's wire harness) will allow the radio presets to retain memory, the clock, your EQ settings, etc etc. The ignition-switched power source (red wire on Sony's harness) will make the stereo turn on and off with the key. If an factory harness adapter is available to you under normal conditions the wiring already in place is sufficient to run a HU.
