I am using my stock 2006 GMC H/U with an Aura RPM4200. Since the amp has high-level inputs I decide to use them rather than buying an LOC. The problem is, now I have a constant whining sound coming through the speakers when the key is in the ON position. There is no noise when the key is in the ACC position. With the truck running, the whining fluctuates with engine speed. The first thing that came to mind was to check the ground, so I checked according to instructions on this sight that say to measure the resistance from the grounding point (rear seat bolt) to the neg. battery terminal using a long wire. I got 0.3 ohms, which is the same reading I got when I tested only the wire itself. I also ran a wire from the neg. terminal of the battery to the neg. terminal of the amp. So, I assume the ground is good, but I still have noise. I even have noise if i turn the H/U off. As long as the speaker wires coming from the H/U are connected to the amp, I have noise. The Aura has 9 wires for the high level input, 8 speaker connections and a ground. I connected the ground to the same point as the main amp ground. Is that the correct locatio for this ground? BTW, the power for the amp is 8 gauge and is connected to the main fuse box connector. The remote turn-on lead is connected to the fused side of the power window fuse. Sorry for the book. -Guff
