Sup everyone, I'm fairly new to car audio but I'm not clueless. I'm generally aware of some of the basics. I need help choosing the right amp for two 12s that were given to me for free. They're Sony Xplods, now before you say anything, I know Sony is at the bottom when it comes to subwoofers but, can't complain they were free lol. (Please don't reply telling me that Sony is a Walmart sub and that I should get better ones...I'm not looking for an opinion bout the subs but rather, what amp will properly power them) They are red, pentagon shaped and to my knowledge, Sony has discontinued these subs. (So the fact that they're discontinued makes them seem rare:cool:) Anyways, they were given to me in a sealed enclosure, and when I went to a car audio shop the guy told me that it would be better if I had a ported box. The subs each say 1300 watts on them (I know, these aren't true watts) My friend told me I should get a mono class d Sony amp. So basically these are my questions: -ported or sealed enclosure? -what type of amp would be best for these? -what gauge wiring should I use? Thanks I hooked them up to my buddy's amp and they thump! ????
