Ive wanted a soundsplintert rlp since soundsplinter went out of business. I never thought id see a dual 2ohm in good condition for sale and now there are two for sale in the classifieds. However, I have a never used flatlyne sitting next to me that is supposed to be the best sq sub available if the hype is true... The box im going to use for this install holds one sub. Im trying to compare them to see if its worth the trouble of trading out/ selling what I have to get the best outcome. I will be using 1.16cuft sealed box. 750watts. The goal being "daily sq". Soundsplinter rl-p - sql recommended sealed box size: .9-2cuft, , 1.35 recc Qts: 0.207 Qes: 0.226 Qms: 2.470 Fs: 23.43 Hz Re: 3.7 Ohm Ls: 4.060 mH Rp: 7.478 Vas: 87.73 L Mms: 177.9 g Cms: 259.2 u Bl: 20.70 T*m SPL: 88.81 dB Sd: 0.0471 m^2 Xmax: 24.2 mm IA Flatlyne - underhung sq recommended box size .8 to 1.4 sealed FS 28 Hz Qms 3.88 Qes .55 Qts .43 Mms 224 g Cms 0.14 mm/N Sd 480 cm^2 Vas 36.9 L Spl 83.7 db BL 14.6 X-max 18 mm Sub Diameter 12 3/8 inches Mounting 11 1/8 inches Mounting Depth 6 3/4 inches Driver Displacement .13 cubic ft. Im trying to understand the differences in these two subs. Going into the comparison, I expected the flatlyne to be hands down a better sub in all areas, but they seem almost like apples/oranges..do I have the following correct?? FS: The rl-p plays better at lower frequencies but the flatlyne plays better at more common frequencies? Xmax: the rl-p moves a lot more to achieve its goal or does this mean it utilizes its frequency range better? Or do I throw this spec out the window since its harder for an underhung to get the same xmax? BL: The flatlyne doesnt require as much motor strength to achieve its goal? SPL: The rlp is a more sensitive sub??? Conclusion: Given the same power/enclosure, the rlp gets louder at lower frequencies, yet at the same time the flatlyne is more efficient due to flat bl?? That seems like an oxymoron. What am I missing, can anyone add any input as to the performance difference of these two subs?
