Is the amp hot? If so, how hot? Like "one... two... **** that's hot!" or just warm? Either get a SMD DD-1 and set the gain on your amp with it or buy a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) and set the gain correctly that way. The correct gain on your amp depends on your Head Unit's output voltage through the RCA's. For all you know the appropriate gain could be 1/8 of the way up. Also just because they have a good rep as a shop doesn't mean they fucked up your install. A friend of mine got his stuff done by a shop called Mobile One Audio and the first sub they put in blew within a week because they set the gain on the amp too high. He went back and got 2 new subs and a new amp for like 75% off and they've lasted about 6 months or so with no trouble. But my point is is that shops can **** up.
