before i go on to my problem, here is my stereo system as is HU: Alpine IVA-W200 Front door Speakers: XR525-CSi and 2-JL 8w0's Front Amp: JL Audio 300/4 Settings: - Front (for the XR525-CSi) - HP set to 225hz at 24db slope. - Rear (for the 8w0's) - HP at 60hz at 24db slope and have a MBquart premium add a woofer x-over at 250hz LP in line. Subs: two Kicker 10in L5's Box: 1.25 ported box (each sub) Sub Amp: MTX 81000d set to 80LP at 12db slope I installed the subs a while back using the stock front speakers and it sounded great. Now that i have the front in and the 8's in the doors, i get enough kick out of them. But, i want my subs to hit lower. Should i sell the L5's and go with bigger subs (12 or 13in)? or is it my box? 60hz and above sounds great in the car, but sub 60hz, it loses a bunch of spl and overall sounds like crap. What should I do? I have contemplated selling the l5's and buying a stealth box with the 13w6, but that is $900 which is just too steep for just one sub and box IMO, but then again, I have never heard a stealth box or a JL 13w6, so maybe it is worth it If I can get it to sound right with the 10's id be happy, just not sure to accomplish this. Any suggestions? PS this is a 06 mustang GT. I listen to a lot of rock, some rap, etc. I am not a bass head. After installing the 8's, I’ve been rollin around with the subs turned off. I am not doing competitions or anything, i just want something loud enough to keep up with my fronts, very flat response from 35-65ish that will run fine off my current sub amp. Thanks in advance for any help.
