I know my Zune software can convert from whatever higher bitrate and lower them for my Zune to like 192 if I feel like it, but I listen to my music in my car so the higher the bitrate the better. I absolutely HATE iTunes - I really doubt you have the option on there to change it to a lower bitrate. First, you need to get the songs off your iPod - iTunes won't let you do that. You'll need to find a program on the internet that lets you take the songs from your iPod and put them on your computer. After that, you can change the bitrate. I suggest Easy CD-DA Extrator. It's not free, so you'll have to find it somewhere to download. I know you can downgrade bitrates in there. Why not just get an external harddrive? It would be much simpler. If you need help, IM me on AIM. Info is below, in my sig.
