Mark got into this because he loves audio and wanted to extend his hobby. He choose some of the best parts (with in a tight budget) for a quality line of drivers for an unreal price. Mark is one of the first people I have known that really designs to the demands and wishes of the customers. For example, Mach5 was initially intended for mostly home audio needs, but when people saw (in the car audio market) how good his product is for the money, it was inevatible. So, to support his growing car audio customer base, Mark pushed forward on an SPL driver that is solely intented for car audio. He has teamed up with the comsumate spl pro, Loyd, to design and test, and I have the other prototype to test. Loyd did more abuse and output testing, and I am doing more daily driver install testing. Also on the other end of the spectrum, the MJ-18 has been a hit for both car audio and home audio. I love the driver (it does take a while to break in), and I feel it is a very clean sounding sub. Nothing added to the sound and very sharp in responce, which is something that is rare for an 18 especially at this price. The home audio crowd loves the MJ-18, most certainly in IB designs. The problem with the current MJ-18 is that Mark is losing money on each one sold, so the price actually should be bumped up a few dollars or the MJ-18 will be phased out soon, and I dont want to see that happen. In the home audio crowd, some people wanted to have a bigger box sub for home audio set ups. So hence forth came the new (in prototype stage) Mach5 18. [QUOTE="denim, post: 2769624, member: 545441"] [B]I understand what you are saying, but if they went much lower then SSA would not make anything (not including handling) and Mark would either break even or lose more money. Mark is a very cool guy, and he is not in this business to make a bunch of money from it. Just like me, he still has to work a full time day job.
