I recently discovered that my 2013 Mazda 3 stereo cannot read more than 600 files in any folder. That's whether I plug in my iPod or a flash drive through the USB port. I have more than 600 artists, let alone music tracks (I have about 15,000 tracks in my collection). I have a work-around that I'm not entirely satisfied with. I can plug into the aux in miniplug through the iPod's headphone out, but then I'm messing with controls on the player because the built in controls in the steering wheel don't work. So I want to replace the built in player, but I can't find a car stereo that will access and play anything close to this number of files. I went to 2 local car stereo "specialist" stores, and neither place was even aware such a problem existed. I had brought my iPod along and upon plugging it into their demo players, and I was able to show them. One of the players had a somewhat larger capacity -- it could read just over 800 files, but that's the biggest capacity I found. Looking at online ads and reviews, I can't find any ads or reviews that make reference to the issue, so it seems impossible to know if any given player can do what I want it to do. And I'm rather shocked to learn that current players can't seem to do what a 10 year old iPod can. Anyone have a solution? Is my dream player out there?
