i installed this cd player from his dads car (he bought + had installed and it worked fine) then we switched it to his new car (well, used car- new to him ) so i got it all mounted, then i got the harness and started to crimp. i get all the speakers wired, the amp and everything... and i come across a red wire and a yellow wire. on the harness the yellow is labeled as "BATTERY MEM" and the red is "12v BAT" or somthing similar. in the booklet the yellow is listed as "BATTERY WIRE (yellow)" and the red is "IGNITION WIRE (red)" the only way i can get it to turn on is if i hook both the yellow AND red wires to the red wire from the harness. the problems is, every time the car is turned off, the cd player resets itself. it spits out a CD (if its in there) it clears all the settings, and takes a while to turn back on. any thoughts? //edit i also used my handy little meter, and the red line tests 12ish v when the car is on, and the yellow one is .2ish volts all the time.. what if i hook all 4 wires together... like this HARNESS====> so it would get like 2.5v constant, and like .2v when offline... do you think this would overpower the deck? i know its not that muc more voltage, but i would imagine a HU is alot more sensative than a LED or somthing. any ideas?
