The reason everyone knows about JL's product is advertising.. Advertising costs money, which increases operating costs, which affects product pricing.. It's all simple marketing.. The reason why the internet companies are lesser known and they have a smaller market share is directly related to what they spend on advertising, which in turn allows them to sell for a cheaper price.. This isn't rocket science.. I think JL makes a great product.. I run their amps and think they are some of the best I've ever owned.. I would never pay retail $ for their product though.. That's just not who I am.. The only reason I have their amps is because I got a good deal on them.. Value-wise, I don't think their product is worth it, for me.. But for the people that don't mind getting good quality product at a price they are willing to pay for said quality, then all the power to them.. Sure there could be better deals out there, but I for one can't argue JL's quality, and I've used/installed a lot of their product over the years, and quality has never been an issue.. Over priced perhaps, but it all comes down to where you find value and what's important to you.. Good deals can be had if you take the time to look around.. Anyways, let me sum up by saying that I think JL makes some of the best quality gear that's easily accessible to the public (ie: at your local shop where you buy Alpine, Pioneer, Kenwood, etc..) and the prices they charge are, in part, reflected in them having a (nearly) household name, which doesn't/hasn't come cheap.. It takes money to make money, and JL has done a good job of it.. Still can't argue their quality regardless of price..
