Long story short, I bought a JL 500/1 used from the intarwebz. Hooked it up (on my temporary subs), and away I went. Sounded good, got fairly loud for Lightning Audio speakers (LMAO). Like I said, I was using the subs temporarily. Anyways, I'm in traffic listening to some music, and the subs shut off. I figure cause it's a hot day, the amp went into thermal protect. I shut my radio off so both amps can cool down a bit. So I get home a few minutes later, turn the radio back on, and it's not in protect. I thought maybe there was a loose wire, so I bang on different areas of the box, and sometimes I would get like a half second burp from the subs. I get new subs, and check all my wiring, and nothing was wrong. Still not getting sound. Hook up different RCA's, and no sound. FAWK. I pull the amp apart, and don't see anything visibly wrong, and the circuit board doesn't smell burned.... it actually kinda smells like old toyota seats lmao. Also, I found (By accident) that if I'm holding the ends of the sub wires coming from the amp and ground myself on the car, I can feel the signal and the bass line and everything. It's fucking crazy. Is my amp toast?
