Been having tons of problems with my mids and highs and i think i may have finally narrowed it down to the amp. Its hooked up properly with a good ground and everything. But whenever i turn the gain up it sounds like complete trash. Got a set of infinity 6x8's running off it and they sound awsome when the gain is at 0. But when i turn up the gain ever so slightly its like the amp sends out a clipped distorted signal. So is the amp screwed or is it my HU mabey? Got the amp off craigslist so it would make sense.. lol. Also i just read the specs on the zx550.2 and it says 1% THD at rated power. That seems awfully high from most THD ratings of amps could that have something to do with it? Also, i was wondering if it would be ok to hook up the 6x8's to my mb quart onx1.1500d just to see if they sound better? The amp says 500rms @ 4 ohm X1. So it would be safe to try to see if they sound better on that right? (with gain kept way down so they arnt overpowered).
