1st post (sorry if there is a sticky I missed)... I have a JL a1400 with stock HU (08 VW), tapped into rear doors at the pillars and went to a LOC. Alpine SWX 10 in the trunk. Wiring is all 4ga (nothing is factory). The sub is crossed over using the outer jumper slots per Alpine, however I was unsure about the leads. For Parallel they say to wire through the lug on the bottom, however it does not say if you need to extend the lead to meet the other VC. I assume that's what the jumpers are for, but the hole is bored all the way through, so..... at first I thought the VC on the sub was toast. I noticed at higher volumes (above 10 or so on the stock HU) the sub would disappear. I didn't see the amp go to protection, so I replaced the R series with the X (thought it was a better fit). 15 seconds later bam, disappeared. It was darker outside so I could see the red green flip on the JL. If I turn down the volume on the ipod or the radio (more the ipod though) it is much better if not non-existent I then went through the setup and set everything to 0 and started over. I was playing a 50Hz sine wave on my ipod (realized later the levels were different from source to source). Also realized my LOC was cranked (somehting I believe the dealership did when I disabled the amp last servicing) My questions are: 1. input voltage from the LOC? 2. correct output voltage for dual 4ohm wired for 2 ohm load (my sources say 28.3v) 3. I assume I will have to reset this when I put the nav in next week? 4. What volume should I set the amp up at? everything I read says 75-80% yes? Thanks again, and sorry for the n00b questions
