I just know that my subs sounded really weird when wired in series. Part of that was because they werent getting as much power.. my 81000d probably puts out like 300 watts rms at 8 ohms tops.. BUT,that is pleanty enough power to make my subs sound good, just not loud.. the thing is, is that they didnt even sound "good". they sounded funky and off beat.. Now i'm not sure what you meant about "out of phase" but maybe.. i do know though after reading the infinity manual, and i've seen it in other manuals, that it says wiring in a series configureation is not recommended for the so called "damping factor", and you will get sloppy results it says. Now technically wiring at a higher impedance load should give a cleaner signal, but with less power.. so the speakers should sound "better" technically, to the point at which the amplifier would be driven into clipping, which would be at a decent level given 300 watts rms is enough to make a pretty loud system believe it or not. BUt anyways, if it worked good for you then i'd say theres nothing wrong with it.. I just wouldn't buy a system with that in mind unless you konw how it will sound cus you might get unhappy results.. http://manuals.harman.com/jbl/car/Owner's%20Manual/GT1241%20om.pdf

look on page 3 and you will see what i am talking about. but hey, dont believe them, believe your ears

[QUOTE="wolfey, post: 63385, member: 544404"] Ok, well if you all have done that and it worked well than thats great, i'm not one to go by what all the manuals and books say, i like to try new stuff and if it works good then i'll go for it. And yes, i konw ohms law and how to calculate impedance and all that good stuff.
