So I just recently bought 2 12" mtx 5500's with an rms for each sub at 300 and an impedance of 4 ohms. According to the mtx website the rec rms amp power is between 150 and 300. When I went to my local audio store today the worker told me that I needed at least a 750 watt amp because it is better to overpower the sub than to underpower, however, after some research online it seems that the opposite is actually true. Can anybody help me figure out how powerful of an amp I need to safely run my subs? Im trying to keep my amp price under $250 as well. Thanks.
