When your car is on and you are driving down the road, the alternator is what is supplying the power for the system. The additional battery would probably hurt you as opposed to help you because the alt isn't strong enough to power system, so the amp will draw it's current from the batteries, which mean the alt now has to work twice as hard trying to recharge the additional batteries.</p><p></p><p>If you plan on playing your system a lot with the stereo off, then add a 2nd battery. If you plan on playing your system with the car on most of the time, upgrade the alt.</p></blockquote><p></p>
