[QUOTE="keep_hope_alive, post: 7731545, member: 576029"] i do boat systems, i have another one on the docket now. it is a cabin cruiser with cabin speakers, rear speakers, enclosed speakers (that I will wire for front or rear use), a clarion 4 channel, a JL powered sub, and a marine HU. my services have been requested to rewire the system for enhanced reliability. i will also rewire the battery/charging/isolation system as well. my last cabin cruizer included a 4 channel amp, 6 speakers, and Kenwood HU with a marine remote at the driver's seat. i incorporated a switch for each speaker so he can switch between HU or amplifier power. the reason is for low power listening at night vs. high power listening at speed. surprisingly, Powerbass makes some good marine speakers that won't break the bank. They are my budget marine recommendation. JL, Alpine, Kicker, and Polk round out the marine companies I like. I do not like Bose, Clarion, or Pyle marine lines. I don't like Bose simply because you get so much less for the money (noting they make 700% profit on every product to pay for marketing) I have no experience with JBL marine. the key to a good marine system is flexibility and control. the listening environments are diverse and the need changes. from playing to a beach, to intimate listening inside, to high volume on the water at speed. a good system designer will provide a system that meets all three needs while being easy to operate.
