It needs more bass</p><p></p><p>Me- Buy some subs and an amplifier</p><p></p><p>Him- I allready have 2 12" dynamic designs.</p><p></p><p>me- ???? Dynamic designs ???</p><p></p><p>Him - Yeah, dynamic designs. I bought the car and the system came with it. It looks like flea market stuff. But I think it should get louder than it does with 2 12's even if they are cheap.</p><p></p><p>Me- What kind of box are they in, and how much power are you pushing them with ?</p><p></p><p>Him - The one they came in.</p><p></p><p>Him - I don't know how much power the amps are pushing the subs.</p><p></p><p>me- Amps ? Pop the trunk and let's see how everything is adjusted</p><p></p><p>He pops the trunk and what do I see ?? there sat two almost freakin' new looking DD9512's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif In a monstrosity of a ported enclosure. In the floor of the trunk were two big a$$ surfboard looking amps. Fosgate 1501bd's, but they were way too long. Wait a second //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif holy bat chit batman it's actually four of the bastages. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/omg.gif.05aa02c3095d6ce9338996654eca0863.gif two per sub. Each pair joined together with a link. Now I definately know something is wrong, if I couldn't tell this stuff was in here. Checked all the amps power lights none were on except the 4 channel running the front. Checked the fuses in the distro blocks looked fine. Quick test with the dmm showed no voltage coming into the distro blocks. Okay let's go pop the hood.</p><p></p><p>Wow a dual alt set up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif I see a 200amp breaker with a couple runs of 1/0 coming off one side, and nothing on the other. Then I see another single fuse holder with 4gauge coming in and 4gauge going out.</p><p></p><p>Me - There's the problem. You need a lead from the battery to the breaker for your sub amps</p><p></p><p>Him- I had to replace that wire when I got a new battery for the car. It was too short. It must have fallen off. I got some extra wire under the passenger seat. I'll fix it real quick. It doesn't make much difference though.</p><p></p><p>Me- Aiight, While your doing that I'm gonna run inside to get a beer real quick I'll be right back.</p><p></p><p>I run inside take a leak, grab a beer and head outside. I walked up just in time to see him get in the car and turn the key over. All we got was a quick ( and loud ) boom. Then I smelled plastic burning and the subs cut back out. I looked towards the still open hood and saw smoke. He did too evidentally as he turned the car off rather quickly. I walked over to see what had happened</p><p></p><p>Him- I must have had some stray wires short.</p><p></p><p>Me- Where's the wire you replaced ?</p><p></p><p>Him-It must have shorted</p><p></p><p>I'm puzzled by this, there is nothing but a little tiny shred of burnt wire laying there still smoldering. I look over on the ground and there sit's a roll of 18gauge primary wire.</p><p></p><p>Me - Is that the wire you used ??</p><p></p><p>Him- Yeah It's not the right color but it will work.
