Hey everyone,

Referred here by another member - this place is HUGE, as Tiny Elvis would say.

I'll be asking about my I35 navigation unit and getting the screws out of it.

Hope everyone has had a Happy New Year so far.

I'm a retired MD and have been fiddling with installing a wired FM modulator, which works great, but after the installation my navigation unit, which was not touched during the installation, now will not work.

Which forum would be the best to get ideas about removing this from its bracket (those screws are very tight) and other steps to take?

2002 Infiniti I35 with the Bose factory unit, 6-CD in the trunk, and the Navigation system which is the standard Nissan Maxima/Infiniti I35 CD unit with a separate display on the top of the dash that opens upward when activated.

The Infiniti forums haven't been too helpful. Neither has the Maxima.org site (no replies in 3 days to my request), nor any of the generic parts sites.

Which forum here would be the most appropriate for me to ask members about experience with removing and inspecting the navigation unit as part of finishing a wired FM modulator installation? Thanks.

I got a used nav unit and replaced the busted one. Removed the whole center console and ran the on/off switch wires up underneath it to an unused switch location (for the seat heaters). Used my Dremel to make a rectangular hole in the plastic snap-in cap that covered the unused switch hole and snapped the rocker switch in there. iPod works great with the wired FM modulator. Only thing left to do is to put a grommet into the hole where the cigar lighter was to make the iPod audio plug look a little neater as it comes out that hole.
