Basic story here is, I've been installing car audio systems for my friends for years (although I don't have a business or anything) and never had enough money to buy one of my own because I'm a nice guy and I do it for free, but now I do! I'm having a little trouble picking out some subs. This is because people just tell me exactly what they want and I can tell them if it will work or not (ex: That amp is way too weak!) I browsed a couple car audio forums and for some reason decided I liked this one best so I thought I would start here. I've got the head unit/door speakers picked out (Infinity 6X9 3-ways and Alpine 5 1/4 components, so-so JVC head unit I might replace later if there is money left over) , and I have an amp but I haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not, depends on what you guys say I guess. I drive a 92 Buick LeSabre which I hope can stand up to what I'm about to put in here, I'm basically trying to design the loudest system I can without spending ridiculous amounts of money or having to heavily modify the car (I really REALLY don't have the cash for extra batteries/alternator upgrades after I buy all this stuff) My budget is probably something like 1000 USD for the whole thing (Caps/box/subs/wires/etc) but if I can do it for less I'm not going to argue. My home audio setup is for quality, this I'm going to be less picky about, Sound quality is good, but I'll sacrifice a little of it for loudness because I'm pretty sure no car audio system could match the clarity of good home audio anyway, the acoustics just aren't right. The amp I have is the Rockford Fosgate Power1000 (25 to life re-design not the old school one) and if need be I can probably sell it for like 500 to this guy I know. I was thinking of taking the easy way out and just getting this, its a good deal considering what it normally sells for but I know there is better, thing is I don't normally shop around for this stuff so I really have no idea whats on the market, I'm more of a home audio guy than a car audio guy to be honest. http://audiovideodimension.com/kicker-08ds12l52-p-1826.html It looks good on paper and seems to match up with the amp well. Although I've never heard an L5 in person only the L7, I was also thinking of just getting one JL W6 but I am HORRIBLE at building boxes, and all the JL stuff seems like its either too expensive, not high end enough for what I'm looking for, or requires me to build a box because I can't seem to find a proper pre-fab box.
