Okay, I got impatient after installing my brother's subs and got something okay for now. Alpine MRD-M501 Amp 2 Alpine Type-R DVC 4-ohm Sealed box (don't know specs yet) I found this on Craigslist for a decent price and went ahead and bought it. I know the subs are a bad match for the amp since I can only get a 4-ohm load for this amp. I plan to get a Hifonics 2010D in a week or two to get around 500rms per sub @ 2 ohms. I plan to upgrade subs soon so don't panic. This is going in a (cough) Mercury Villager van. The amp is digital and I therfore have no friggin clue how to adjust it. I do not have a HU as of yet and have spliced RCA's (using a converter) of the RL and RR speakers. My first question is how do I know which level to set the amp to for the inputs? I'm assuming the higher setting is what I would use. I have never had to really configure an amp because they were just Gain and bass boost. I had a Memphis amp that had a crossover but I just set it to 80ish and moved on. Anyone in the Cincinnati area up for helping me? If not (I'm assuming you realize I'm joking) could you guys give me an idea of what each of the settings do? For example there are 3 settings for bass compensation. Another would be the parametric eq settings. I'm so lost at this point. Anyone willing to give me some tips? I have downloaded the user manual for the amp but it doesn't give specifics for each setting. It just tells you how to access them and change them.
