Been reading here for a while, great site I have a 05 Mustang GT with the shaker system (6X8 slot and 8in door speakers) SO far i have done: HU: Alpine IVA-W200 (dvd monitor) Sub amp: MTX 8100d (with 1/0 gauge) Subs: (2) kicker L5 10 in (dual 2 ohms) Im ready to move onto the front stage setup. A few weeks ago i ran into a great deal. MB quart DSE213 (discus 5.25 with .75 titanium tweet) AND PCE164 (6in add a woofer with x-over) both for 50 dollars, brand new, never opened. I didnt have time to think through my system, figured i can sell them and make a profit if anything. here is the dilema - I can use what i have or go with something else. Should i stick with a 8in in the door or plate it for a 6in? For the upper door, should i run a 5.25 component set or a 4in set? Im looking for loud clarity. I can buy a 100X4 eclipse amp for $75, added with the $50 for the mbquart setup, thats a total of $125 for the system. Or i could spend $300 for a component set (looking at CDT, MB Quart premium, and Kicker SS) and $200 for a 8in set (Kicker ss 8in midbass), added in a $300 dollar 175-200X4 amp (looking at PG Xenon 200.4) and i will be at 800 dollars. Do you think the extra money would be worth it? 2nd issue - what is the best setup? These are my avaiable setups (6 and 8in will be bandpassed at HP 100hz and LP 300hz - 10in are x-over'd at 100hz) tweet, 4in, 8in, and 10in? tweet, 4in, 6in, and 10in? Tweet, 5.25in, 6in, 10in? tweet, 5,25in, 8in, 10in? My main questions; would buying new speakers and a larger amp be worth the extra money? What is the best speaker combo for sizes? sorry for the long post, just trying to make a decision soon.
